Treating Disease

Treating Disease- Stem cells are known to be able to treat heart disease, type 1 diabetes, cancer, and Parkinson's disease.  Damaged tissues are also healed by the means of stem cells.  Treating diseases with stem cells actually seems or even is a simple process.  Embryonic stem cells are grown into the area of the body affected by the disease (i.e. heart muscle is affected, heart muscle cells are grown).  The grown cells are then injected into the sick human body.  The cells would then rebuild or repair whatever it was affecting or causing pain to the patient.  For type 1 diabetes, it is the same process.  Embryonic stem cells are transformed into cells producing insulin which are injected into the human body.  After the injection, the patient no longer has to inject doses of insulin into his/her body.
